Admission requirements

At least 6 months of work experience in the field of repair activities or electrical engineering repairs, which the candidate proves with authentic documents (for example: letters of reference, reports on the work performed with the signature of the responsible person, contracts, proof of student work, etc.), which show the time and content of the work performed.

Learning outcomes

The candidate is able to:

  • to plan, organize and carry out one's own work on the basis of determining the circumstances and obtaining information relevant to the service or repair of household appliances in the field or in the workshop,
  • obtain and review work and technical documentation and diagnose a fault on a household appliance by visually inspecting the appliance, by performing a function test and with the help of fault diagnosis devices,
  • identify the malfunction of the household appliance, estimate the cost of the repair, the time and materials required for the repair, and obtain the customer's consent to carry out the repair,
  • effectively eliminate the diagnosed error, ensure the quality of the work performed in accordance with the quality standards in the profession,
  • communicate verbally and in writing with various stakeholders in the service process and take care of your own professional development,
  • protect the client's and own health at work by following safety guidelines and regulations, including regulations for working under electrical voltage,
  • implement measures to protect the environment.

Accessors

Verification and assessment are carried out by committees for the verification and validation of national vocational qualifications, appointed by the National Examination Centre (NEC). Committee members must be licensed by the National Examination Centre. Licences may be found here [2].

Assessment and completion

VALIDATION

During the guidance process the candidate prepares a portfolio, which is assessed by a committee. If the portfolio submitted by the candidate contains authentic, valid and adequate proof of the knowledge, skills and competences defined in the occupational standard, the committee may:

  • validate the contents of the occupational standard in full,
  • validate the contents of the occupational standard in part and define the knowledge, skills and competence to be verified,
  • refuse to validate any of the contents of the occupational standard because the candidate has not provided proof of any of the knowledge, skills and competences defined in the occupational standard, in which case it will verify the occupational standard in full.

METHOD OF VERIFICATION

Practical verification with an oral presentation.

Condition for obtaining certificate

Candidates demonstrate attainment of the knowledge, skills and competences defined in the catalogue of standards of vocational knowledge and skills.

Awarding body

Providers of procedures for identifying and validating NVQs are entered in a register of providers maintained in the collection of the national information centre for vocational qualifications. These are: vocational schools, businesses, B2B training centres, adult education centres and chambers of commerce.
